About Mrs. Armsworthy

NAME:  Betty Lynn Armsworthy

WHAT YOU TEACH:  6th Grade Religion & 4th/ 6th Grade Math classes

HOMETOWN:  Leonardtown, MD

EDUCATION:  alum of FAW in the sixties (do the math); graduated from St. Mary’s Academy, and received B.S. in Education from Towson State College (now Towson State University); post graduate courses at College of Notre Dame of Md. and University of Maryland

FAVORITE OUTSIDE-OF-WORK ACTIVITY:  Family & friends play an important part in my “free time.  I’m very proud of my “other” titles of wife, mom, and grandmother.  I love spending time with my six grandchildren – babysitting, and watching their many sporting events.  Singing and playing the piano are also some of my favorite hobbies.

FAVORITE CHILDREN’S BOOK:  Johnny Tremain  and A Wrinkle In Time;  The Giving Tree and     The Velveteen Rabbit are close “seconds”

FAVORITE SAINT:  St. Anthony.  My mom taught me a short prayer to him, when I was little, and I have kept up the devotion ever since.  (The older I get, the more I seem to depend on him.)

FAVORITE MOMENT AT FAW:  Our 8th grade graduations are always so meaningful.  Tears are shed, but it’s also a time of hope, joy, and excitement for what’s ahead!

QUALITIES YOUR FAVORITE TEACHER POSSESSED:  “Firm” but kind and expected you to do your BEST at all times.  She was fun-loving, and always got to know each student individually.  She went the extra mile, but never lost her sense of humor.

WHY I LOVE TEACHING AT FAW:  That’s easy…although much has changed at FAW since I attended, the dedication, commitment, and call to service of its members has remained constant. We are a FAMILY, helping each other on our journey in Faith.  What could be better than that?
